Animal Aid Develops New Premium Cat Adoption Pens Print E-mail

new_cat_pensLeading animal welfare organisation, Animal Aid, is launching the installation of 10 state of the art cat cages at the local council facility in Bairnsdale.

This important project has, in part, been made possible by the generosity of the local community and is a result of a promise kept. Funds raised by a now defunct local group, earmarked for facility improvements, have at last come to fruition, with the cats the ultimate winners.

The cat cages feature multi-level ‘penthouse-style' enclosures, complete with ladders and all the creature comforts for the cats and kittens seeking new homes.

The all-new cat cages provide potential adopters with the opportunity to view and interact with the cats, which is such an important element of Animal Aid's adoption process.

All the cats that are available for adoption are assessed for their temperament and suitability and are vet checked desexed, microchipped and vaccinated prior to being rehomed.

According to Animal Aid General Manager, Nell Thompson, the new cat facility in Bairnsdale, built by Burmese Triangle Cat Havens of Eagle Point, will greatly enhance the adoption experience for new owners wanting a cat as a pet.

"The new cattery will be the first option for people in East Gippsland to visit, increasing the likelihood of cats and kittens being successfully adopted," she said.

"Animal Aid and our team of dedicated employees and volunteers will ensure that impounded and stray cats alike will be receiving the utmost care and attention, in facilities that not only meet the Code of Practice for housing cats, but exceed it.

Luis Marquez, the Operations Manager at the Bairnsdale facility, looks forward to welcoming the community to the facility and successfully matching adopters to cats searching for forever homes.
