Animal Aid is proud to announce that we have joined forces with the Wellington Shire Council. Although we have been assisting this Council with their unclaimed animals for over a year now, we have formalised this service when they accepted our tender to operate their pound. We firmly intend to build and develop a great working relationship with the Council and the community, putting us in the best position to create second chances and new opportunities for even more animals in need. This brand new, custom built facility can hold 40 dogs and 18 cats at capacity and also has limited livestock facilities when the need arises. We have been fortunate in being able to recruit some fantastic local girls in Debby, Christine and Cathy to ensure that the animals get the best care and we welcome the participation of anyone who wishes to volunteer their time. There are lots of ways to be involved either caring for, the animals or helping out in the office. So far adoptions are a bit slow, but we hope that as the word spreads we will see more and more cats and dogs being rehomed back in to the Gippsland community. Until then we have the luxury of being able to ferry them back to Coldstream if we need to, which is an absolute godsend. We are working hard to get the word out that we have beautiful cats and dogs available to adopt, but we need your help. If you can help us spread the word by telling a friend or coming on down yourself it would mean the world to us. We need the support of the community if we are to really make this shelter fly, so get on board and we can't fail.
