Animal Aid provides 'pound' services for the following councils:

Shire of Yarra Ranges
East Gippsland Shire Council

Dogs and cats that are impounded by the local laws officers are held in the pound facility for the statutory 8-day period. On arrival they are checked by our veterinary staff and are given any required treatment.

We also take in unclaimed animals from the Shire of Murrindindi, Wellington Shire, Macedon Shire and Mansfield.

We strongly believe that any animal held in any pound, that has the potential to be re-homed, should, at the very least, be given that opportunity. After the eight day holding period, animals that remain unclaimed are assessed for health and sociability. Those suitable for re-homing are then put up for adoption.

Our trained staff ensure that animals and new owners are well-matched, taking into account the temperament and background of the animal and the facilities offered by their new home. Animal Aid accepts any animal in need of care and/or a new home, whether they are strays or surrendered by their owners for a variety of reasons.
